Guy's ,

in the Scamble database no. 301 Sqn is said to have the EC-135 and AW-139 helicopters.

I thought 301 was the Alouette III sqn?

Can someone give me the correct answer please?

301 Sqn? How did they get that many Squadrons? Is it No1 Sqn, No3 Support Wing? Jeez, things've changed since I was there!

Hi John K,
It's just empire-building.Helis will always be operated by Heli Flight, trainers by BiFTiS, armed aircraft by Light Strike/Rat Squadron, Cessnas by Gormo, VIP aircraft by GP Flight and spanners turned by Tech Wing.Oh, and the Water Babies will be operated by Maritime. 'pilot_grin'

Hi lads,

As ye are all aware of the Allouette 3's will soon retire. We thought it might be an idea to bring out a limited number (around 50-75) of memorial T-shirts/Polo shirts.

Any suggestions on what we might print or embroider on these, Pictures, logos, slogans? any suggestion is welcome.

I also thought of making a special package including a Shirt, Patch and a print.

What do ye think?

I Would Say for the T- Shirt A Small image of the AIII (like the Aircraft Badges, only Larger) with 1963-2007 Below on the Front, and Across the Back have the 4 (Yes 4!) Squadron Badges:

Are these first two badges up-side down? I could be wrong, but it seems to me they are?

I like it Bailer!

The lot will be printed on (Should we use the idea) as embroidered versions would be a bit (a big huge bit!!!) to costly.

I was thinking along the lines of an embroidered All 3 with something like: Thanks for the years. (or a differant slogan like: First of many, Allouette 3) underneath it.

The First one was painted on the Left Side (Behind the Sliding door) of the AIII about 1970; (The HI Vis Orange AIII days) The same time as the RAF 22 Sqn Badge was on the right Hand side. its included in Joe Maxwells Decal set, and the Badge drawn on my site is courtesy of a photo Joe sent me a few years ago. Evidence for this is hard to come by, its rare to see photo's of it. I may see if I still have the photo, and upload it. (with Joe's Permission of course)

Actually the full size one is here...

Very nice emblem.

Sad to hear that it was only on the chopper for a short period.
It should be a cloth patch !!!.

I like the idea for putting them on a T-shirt.
I'll talk to the people involved to see what the plan might be.

For sure..... I realy like your idea Bailer.
Are we allowed to use it on the shirt?

For details please PM me.
