New Air Corps book launched

I tried easons in galway 5 times and they said they never heard of it until i went online here and got the ISBN and wa-hey presto "oh yes we do have it on that pallet over by the escalator"

Seems the Name "Irish Air Corps blah blah" doesnt come up on their computers but the ISBN does!

Did anyone notice the heli formation of four Dauphins and Five AIII's taken in August 2003-four months ago I thought on of the Dauphins has been mothballed for the last while?

I've just received my copy from Ireland and had a quick look through, excellent publication.

One question, if you look on the page regarding the anniversary of the Bremmen, there is a line up of AC aircraft and a civilian aircraft, don't have the book beside me so can't be more specific, there is also an honour guard. The caption says theres was German military attendance, and in the far background there appears to be an Iroquois, does anyone know if this is German Army or what?

From what I understand, the fourth Dauphin had/has very low operational hours left, and only briefly took to the air to be part of the formation.

the HEER ( German Army) does indeed fly the UH-1 helicopter.
I have my copie of the book ordered so I can give you a perfect answer but it is not impossible that a HEEREFLIEGER  UH-1 is in the picture.

Hi all,
I have just come from the launch (by the Minister for Defence)of the new book on the Air Corps titled "The Irish Air Corps celebrates 100 years of flight". This is a wonderful collection of black and white and colour photographs from the first to the latest. There is no text as such only photo captions. There is a section with rank markings and Air Corps insignia (unit badges wings etc.) ending with nine pages of drawings by Joe Maxwell. It is well worth having and should be in the shops shortly. Well done to all involved.

Hi Guys,

I too was at the book launch last night and picked up my copy, it is an excellent publication, some of the pictures in it (one of which is mine, Dauphin, page 98) are brilliant.  Aparrently this is the first time colour pictures of Irish Air Corps Spitfire's & Seafire's have been published.

Well done to all involved in creating the magnificent book that it is.  The drawings by Joe Maxwell are excellent, and they include pictures of what the new Learjet 45 & PC-9M's will look like.  

Going by the drawings the Learjet will have "Irish Air Corps - Aer Chor na hEireann" titles on the fuselage sides, above the windows, it's number will be "258" and the colour scheme is excellent.

Also of note is the Flying Training School badge on the tail of the PC-9M.

The paperback version of the book will be on sale in Eason's nationwide from Monday 1st December for approx €20 but the hardback version is only available from the Air Corps directly for a cost of approx €25.

The hardback version can be obtained by contacting the Air Corps Museum at Baldonnel.  Cheques should be made payable to the Air Corps Museum Fund.
