Alouette commemorative patch

However, personally I would still like just the badge alone (if a large quantity were ordered I suspect the cost would be low - c.€5).

I forgot about the Bremen badge.  
However, an Alouette patch would be the first to commemorate an Air Corps aircraft !

I submitted a badge to the Air Corps (Well someone in The Air Corps with the correct knowledge of these things) a few months ago for the 302Sqn. I've yet to hear anything back. The Badge had a Lark Flying over a mountain Range on it and followed pretty much the standard of the new Ac badges.

The Lark Signified The A3, "Allouette" being French for Skylark. A Bird wich is known for its habit of Ascending and Descending Vertically. The Mountains signified the Units Link with the Ground as in Army-Co Operation.

As was mentioned above by many contributors, the techies who have maintained the Alouette's deserve to be recognised for their efforts.
A badge would be a nice way to acknowledge them (however small the gesture).

Obviously, a commemorative patch would NOT be the sum total of any anniversary celebration(s), just a nice way of marking the occassion.

And I thought it went without saying that the crew and techies deserve due respect for their trojan work - obviously not !

I also think you are being a bit unfair by saying the alouette deserves nothing - if it was a badly designed machine, it wouldn't have given such good service to the Corps.

Most likely, as you suggest, any such patch would be presented to crew/ex-crew after a 'get together' celebration -but AC enthusiasts would also be very keen to get their own example !

all of these are great idea's and i would like to see a badge for the all 3s, they are the work horse!, i love them nosiey beasts!, but given the current mood in No.3 its prob not a great time to suggest it!, friendships/comradery are at an all time low! due to ....Administration Difficulties shall we say! OK Silver, I apologise for being a damp squid, but I have seen so many talented people in the Air Corps not being recognised for the trojan work in maintaining and crewing these aircraft, without ever a "thank you" for the above and beyond efforts in keeping what are now "vintage " aircraft flying.

When you look at the civil world and see the many and varied appointments these people hold. A lot of them are "non commissioned" people. Still strange that they are only fit to crew, but not pilot aircraft in this day and age. I suppose I am a bit bitter about the whole thing, but fair play, you have a good initiative, run with it! I am just sorry that the aircraft gets the recognition, and not the people.

Alpha 211 was in Galway Regional yesterday looking clean and crisp, made me fee; real pround to see the Huge tri-colour on it and underneath, god im going to miss it, as i watched it, it circled the hospidal once before heading out and turning around to come into the hospidal and it passed right over my head and created a lovely noisy sound in my street and had everybody looking, i was so proud to see it!

It's a great workhorse, the South African DF use it as a gunship!

The crews should be rewarded by transforming the air corps into a modern military organisation with sufficient equipment to carry out military missions.
NCO pilots would be a good idea also, are there any Warrant officer places in the IAC?

Yea, i would definitly fork out for a commerative patch, for this aircraft, I think something should be done to recognise the important work that has been done by all those who have operated and maintained this aircraft over the last 40 years.

We're getting a bit off-topic here.

The Alouette crews/techies deserve to be commended without doubt, in whatever form that may take (e.g. Foreign Alouette Fly-in, Reunion, etc.)

However, a commemorative flight suit patch would be a great reminder of such events/the anniversary.

So over to you 302 Sqdn !
