Alouette commemorative patch
« Reply #15 on: October 07, 2003, 05:28:14 am »
Hi Guys,

I think it's a great achievement for the Air Corps and the techies in particular to have kept the Alouette's operational for so long.

I'm not going to get into the minefield that is who or what deserves the recognition, but I do think with the limited resources of the Air Corps that a commemorative badge worn on the flight suits of all the crews involved with the Alouettes would help foster a good "Esprit de Corp" and demonstrate in a public fashion the Air Corps' achievment of keeping the Alouette's flying safe for 40 years.

Yes?  No?

And if this badge is made it would not be the first commemorative badge in the Air Corps, the Wings Course badges are a form of commemorative badge, the Bremen 75th Anniversary badge is another one and there was also one for the personnel who completed the 1st CASA Airborne Radar Operator Course.

Regards,

Frank.

If anyone knows about a get together of present and ex crews I'd be interested. What about a polo shirt with the commerative patch embroidered on it? they work out to about £12 each.

Ok, this has never happened before in the AC - as far as I know........ a commemorative patch, that is.

I'm suggesting that the Alouette, after it's trojan work for the Air Corps, deserves a commemorative patch to celebrate it's 40 years service to the Corps (and the country) !!!

It's a popular way for most air forces to celebrate anniversaries - I have even thought of a design   ':<img:'>

(It would be a cheap and classy way for the AC to mark the occassion)

C'mon, 302 Squadron, organise a patch !!!!!
(I will send you my design - no charge !)

What do you think folks ?
Surely the Alouette deserves it ?!?

Sorry to put a damper on this issue! The Alouette deserves nothing. Simple as that.

However, the people who maintained, and crewed them over the 40 year period do deserve thanks and recognition. Patches are great, but a good night out, and a reunion of all Flying Wing / No 3 Support,  current and ex, would do a world of good. Maybe a momento of the occasion could be the patch!
