Actually, now that you mention it .......

Would the Gulfstream be washed very often (ever ?)
........Or any AC aircraft for that matter ?

The Garda Twin Squirrel in particular (last time I saw it up close) needed a good clean ......... a lot of exhaust smoke staining on the fuselage behind the exhaust/engine.

I believe the CASA's are washed very often due to the salty conditions they work in (atlantic).
Don't suppose there is a ground based spraying system for washing the CASA's (as with RNZAF aircraft) ?
(Probably large powerwashers for that job, eh ?!).

I wouldn't be suprised if the Swiss POLISHED their aircraft on a regular basis - not merely washing alone !!!

No doubt polished aircraft generate more pride within any Corps/Force.

They were two "Dominies"(HS-125's) from RAF Cranwell here on a courtsey visit,(hence the golf clubs and civvie bags that came off the a/c). Theyre actually Sim trainers for radar operators for the likes of Tornado crews and the likes, hence the different noses on them compared to normal HS's.
A Hawk from RAF Valley was supposed to arrive on Fri but cancelled at the last minute, DOH!
There was also a USAFE C-21 (Learjet) in over the weekend.
I see one of the CASA boys didnt waste much time in posting photos of the above on the site!!

The GIV is washed whenever possible or when the flt/sgt is in a scorp, just ask the young lads!! The CASA's recieve an engine wash when they come back off patrol each night to prevent salt corrosion on the compressor blades and such.
Any fuselage washing done out here is by pure elbow grease with the help of a ladder or two.
With regards to the Garda heli's, they're used so much that of course there's gonna be dirt from the engines along the fuselage. The lads have enough on there hands without having to wash the squirrell at some ungodly hour in the morning when the a/c comes in!! This is done whenever it might come in on maintenance.

No doubt the Swiss have a proper "drive through" washing system, which would explain the sparkling aircraft.
(Though I still reckon they would also actually polish them a few times a year).

I thought the CASAs would require a full fuselage wash after each patrol ?
I recall seeing a RNZAF C-130 driving through a washing system (jets of water sprayed up from ground level).

Nobody would expect the GASU crew to wash their helis each night but, like Garda cars, I suspect washing is a rarity anyway.
Did you every see Police aircraft (and cars) in other countries - they are usually kept immaculately - like the Swiss planes (or UK or Aussie aircraft).

Guess it's down to having the right systems in place - and habit !

Hi there Frank!
Get your camera ready cos starting next week there's goin to be a huge influx of foreign A/C into the don due to this euro prez thing!! The lads in the VIP terminal and on the ramp are gonna be knackered!!
And before yis all (Fianna Fail especially!!) go off and start this "breach of security" s@#t, give me a break cos any one worth their salt knows dam well that they'll be comin in and out of the don like every other vip or Formula 1 team owner!!!!(sorry eddie!). And besides, I think the site of a 146 or Falcon 50 on finals for 29 is not exactly hush hush, seen as anyone on the southside will see and hear them!!

Lads,
I would caution you using unauthorised photos of aircraft at the Don especially of foreign a/c coming here under Berties EU President's role from 01/04.  Remember what the happened in Greece....another EU member and the heightened international terrorist alerts!

Enjoy the world coming to Bertie for the six months though.
