CASA's defensive capabilities ?
« on: November 27, 2003, 10:47:39 pm »
What defensive capabilities do the CASA's posses that could be used in a wartime situation to defend/protect Ireland ?

For example,
Could their radar be used as an 'early warning system' to detect hostile aircraft ?

YJ, was'ent Bal' all grass in the '40's. must a been a hell of a lot of Gladdys' in the Irish AIr Corps. Will Russel Crowe be appearing in the film? '<img'>

Seriously, I know a lot of fields were spiked, and Collinstown,[I think] as Dublin airport was then, was obstructed with horse drawn carts, something for another topic perhaps?

As for the topic itself, I think Alpha is right, probally best dropped, IMHO.

During the Emergency, warplans were for the Irish Gladiator fleet to be parked along the runway at Baldonnel, thereby denying its use to enemy aircraft.

Could work again in a pinch.

not really, alpha. most people with an interest in AC aircraft know what equipment the CASA's posses. it's public knowledge.
