strange sikorsky @ Baldonell
« on: January 24, 2009, 10:14:19 am »
just found the sight and just wondering if anyone know anything about a US sikorsky with  a radome at the side .
It was last year in around august(i know but never knew of the sight) and was landing about 1630 as it went right over me on the N7 on the way home

worth a try

Would this be the aircraft you saw:

Westland Sea King AEW.7, XV707, Royal Navy

There's a larger version here if you're interested:

Hi there exworks.... welcome aboard......    I think you will find that the only people in the whole world to operate this aircraft are the Royal Navy...... you might think the colours were darker but the Navy dont do camo on their AEW helos..... only the Navy commando seakings have a green scheme and they dont have a radome........

So was such a Sea King at Baldonnel last year? I don't recall reports of such a visitor and not much escapes the eyes of the enthusiast population!

I believe you will get all your answers here.....http://www.valleyaviationsociety.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=225    ........only thing is the H-53 dosnt have a radome on the side........ so when you asked about a Helo with a radome on the side the AEW version would be the one that we assumed you saw......
