Browsing on Flickr I found these interesting photos which have recently been added:

Anyone able to suggest a type for the second aircraft - it doesn't look like a Seafire to me.

Interesting photos Short Finals. Second one not a Seafire, radial engine, Seafire was RR Merlin V12. Possibly remains of Miles Master ? Over to you TK !

These are also worth a look - the family connection to the Air Corps will be apparent to some here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/scranfield/sets/72157600201914664/

Joe, I am surprised that you and SF did not recognise the Bristol Mercury XXX from Miles Martinet 145, of course if it had been a foul smelling, smoke emitting, noisy flame spitting jet engine you both would have been first up to the podium! So there. Ah flying has never been the same since they removed the second wing.
I'll pull the door after me after I find my umbrella and zimmer. ;D
