I have some photos of it the last time it was in shannon, who wants them?

It seems they were not permitted to go supersonic until they were outside irish airspace, and used to begin their descent to heathrow 200 miles off the west coast.

Hi sealion,

How about sending them to Frank for his gallery collection (that way everyone can enjoy them)  ?!

Fouga is correct - BA have suggested that they will keep at least one example airworthy for airshows.

The rest will go to museums.
There will also be an auction soon for various Concorde spare parts/collector items  -  e.g.  nosecone's for c. Stg£35,000 !

Richard Branson has stated that, even at this late stage, he wants to begin talks with the British government and BA with a view to organising a 'charitable trust' to keep Concorde as a going concern.

Saw the prototype,in BOAC colours in that Museum in the UK a few years back...It was amazing the amount of people who were gathered around the main wheelwell.. '<img'>

Many a time we used to watch them in training out at Shannon, what a great day it was to see their return to service after the crash. But it seems all their main clients were killed in sept 11 in the WTC. It will always be a welcome sight-and sound at airshows though.

Richard Branson just wants publicity! Airbus have pulled the plug on Concord, maybe it was pressure from Air France, but BA can't keep them in the air due to Airbus not giving assurances of providing spares, and God knows Concord needs lots of spares! Also the Concord workforce aren't getting any younger, most of the blokes that serviced them actually built them! They joined BA afterwards and carried on working on them. Tonight (Sun) we're getting a couple who, nice blokes though they are, are in their sixties, and they'll have to get to know the B747-400, I can see their moral being sky high!
What will they do with their Concord Engineer pullovers?

Maybe Bertie will get one as 'the new govt jet'  ':<img:'>

I can just see it now........
Takes off from Dublin airport - pilot opens her up,

Bertie : "Eh, are we over Donegal yet?"

Pilot : "No Taoiseach, we are over Iceland !"

Yup, Silver, Shannon has been a airline training location for a lot of years, and Concord has featured quite high in that.
Ireland, no jets, no future!

Cheers Turkey.
That's a new one to me - never saw, or heard of, Concorde being in/over Ireland.

BBC News showed archive footage of Concorde which stated that most countries around the world wouldn't allow Concorde in their airspace due to it's sonic boom.
Hence it ended up mainly on the London-New York-London route.
