OFF Shore Air Corps Helicopter Stations
« on: May 01, 2003, 06:00:13 am »
I was just thinking how practical it would be for the Air Corps to build an off shore Helicopter Stations. It is practical and would be ideal, due to the great work of the Air Corps in saving people every year, from the sea.

Well just something to think about!!! '<img'>

Possible exactly how Marine?seriously!!And when you mean offshore,I take it you mean on an island of some sort, off the rugged west coast. Not practical Marine, not practical at all!

the Pacific and China seas are somewhat gentler than the north atlantic, and Irish weather systems are particulalry rough, thats why our custom designed patrol vessels have those big plough like hulls.

Given that the government won't even spend the required amount to properly equip the AC, what chance is there of getting "offshore helicopter stations" !

Pie-in-the-sky stuff , IrishMarine !!!!!

What is a realistic option would be to have Air Corps Stations at various regional airports e.g. Waterford, Sligo (or Finner, or Donegal Airport), Shannon , etc.
Thats provided the AC regain full SAR coverage from the Irish Coast Guard.
