RNZAF Aermacchi jets - out of storage?

I came across this article which suggests the possible re-introduction of the (currently stored) fleet of 17 x Aermacchi jets into the RNZAF orbat...

Interestingly, according to the article, the jets are currently regularly flown to keep them operational?!

Odd it is that they had them and 17 skyhawks in storage for the last 8 plus years. :airforce_huh:

Apparently the Skyhawks were due to be sold to a US 'combat display' company but the US govt objected to the sale?!"

Pity they dont form up an Aermacchis squadron?!
