You and your Camera gear!
« on: May 26, 2010, 10:13:22 am »
Since this is a photography aviation orientated website we should all say a little about our camera gear.I look at some pics and think wow i wonder what lens and camera was used to get that shot!

I use an Olympus E-3 and an E-520 cameras.Lenses, Zuiko ED 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5(my cameras have a x2 crop factor so the lens is 100-400mm effectively), Zuiko ED 12-60mm 1:2.8-4.0 SWD and im going to add the EC14 x1.4 Teleconverter before RIAT.

above and beyond

I fully agree, loads of room for Frank to develop this site.
I'd love to be able to comment on some peoples pics
and I'd like to be able to upload videos too!
I'm currently using a 450D with a variety of lenses.

I use a rather ancient Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XT (350D) along with the kit 18-55mm lens, really saving hard for a Canon 7D, but that will be late next year I fear. In addition I have a Canon 100 - 400mm L IS lens and a Canon x1.4 extender. I also have a 80Gb SmartDisc Digital Photo Bank for the likes of RIAT and Holidays so that I won't run out of storage for pics.

If I listed all my gear I'd be a prime candidate for a break in, suffice to say I've a bit of Canon gear.

My main fit-out is a pair of Canon 40D's, one with a 70-200mm lens, the other with a 300mm lens, I also have a pair of 1.4x converters to get me that bit closer to the action.

I'd love to have better cameras & lenses but weight starts to become an issue, most of my gear is bought with Ryanair's carry on limit in mind. We're a bit isolated here in Ireland from all the flying action, apart from England most places in Europe are just too far away to drive to.

Now, to get back to pilatus' original request, here's a picture with the settings & gear used to take the picture:

Canon EOS-40D with 24-105mm L F4 IS lens
Shutter Speed: 1/160th sec
F stop: F.9
ISO: 400
Camera Ship: Shorts Skyvan

(Now before anyone thinks "jammy bastard", how did he get that shot, I was a paying student at the Eric Coeckelberghs Air to Air Academy)

Hey Pilatus,

I use a Cannon 450d with Sigma 70-300mm lens and for my ramp shots I use my fairly older Cannon 350D with Cannon 18-55mm lens. Saw a Cannon 500mm in Harvey Normans in Cork which I'd love to get my hands on!!!

BTW brilliant photo Frank!

Regards,

Paul

Added a Canon 70-300mm IS USM  to the family back in June, it really is as good as it gets before the (major) step up to "L"s. Now all I've to do is sort out the gobsh*te pushing the buttons on the camera.
