Can anyone shed light on the current status of the S-61?
Is it still operating out of Sligo - or has it's lease been cancelled?

Yuletide felicitations to one & all!

Things could be complicated re the Sikorsky contract.

From what I understand, the S-61 was leased (for 4 years) by the DoD.
However, now that the Coast Guard will be taking over north west SAR, the heli contract will be paid for by the Dept of Marine - Correct ?

So, I wonder will it be a case of transfering funds from one dept to another, or will the DoD have to pay for the full 4 year contract even though the CG (i.e. dept of marine) will be operating the S-61    '<img'>

It's in the hanger at Sligo untill the finer details of the changeover are sorted out.

PS, A belated merry christmas and happy new year to all on the board. '<img'>
