Turkey, doubt it was a PC-9M, more likely a Tucanno as their built there (the RAF one's in Belfast under licence).

The L-139 that was here a few years ago had the LSS badge on the side of it but wasnt as elaborate as this one!
If my memory serves me right there was a movie out a few years ago about the US Navy vs the baddies type thing, cant remember which one, but it had the LSS badge as as one of the squadron badges! I remember a scene where the pilots are in a hanger and there on the floor was painted a huge LSS badge! I couldnt believe it, I was actually over the moon and annoyed at the same time, cos they obviously just took it off the web or something or we would have all heard about it. Dam, Cant think of the movie, anyone else see it? You would have to know what your looking for cos its only in the scene for a few seconds!

This is going off the original point of the post.. anyway:
 http://www.radom-aviation.com/radom/eng/pro6.htm

The PC-9M Swift is the aircraft used by the Slovakian AF, its had an upgrade by the Israeli Company whose URL is above. In the link above is a device that allows the PC-9M to simulate the firing of a Sidewinder, minus the expense of actually firing one. This *could* be useful for the AC as regards training - which lets not forget the PC-9M has been bought for. Not actual Air to Air combat.

I'm not sure how useful a Sidewinders going to be on a PC-9 though, like what the hells it going to be used for? Don't say runaway airliners, don't say drug pushers. I really see it as a pointless expense for the Air Corps to go to. Id really prefer the money to go towards something more important.

Foo, I was only makin the point that ff is an a$$hole, stop takin things so seriously!
Obviously the PC-9 is not suitable for a-to-a combat, but just you wait, and see how many politicans, and media luvvies call them fighters when they arrive in April.
Against druggies, need political will...........never happen in this country.
I reckon I have stated my case with regard to shooting airliners on these boards often enough, most recently on IMO, only a couple of weeks ago, it's not on, under any circumstances.
Ireland, no jets, no future!

Hi Guys,

I was sent in a picture today of an Irish owned, Canadian based Aero L-39 that seems to have the Light Strike Squadron badge painted on the tail.

What do you reckon?

Click here for more information and a larger picture.

I currently trying to get some more information and I'll post it here if and when I find out.

Regards,

Frank.

Yep, looks like the LSS badge to me !

Nice 'big boys toy' all the same.

Though I wouldn't be too keen on the colour scheme  '<img'>

definitaly fits the profile, well at least a L-39 got to wear the mark of an irish fighter, shame it doesn't have the roundel to go with it
you're not lost until you're lost at mach 3
