Light Strike Squadron L-39

Hi lads have a look at these photos of the LSS badge. While the l-39 badge is similar it ain't ours.

You are correct, Claudel.

The badge on the L-39 seems to only have "LIGHT STRIKE SQUADRON" (no 'Beag Ach Foichmar') and the panther's head is raised up somewhat higher.

Still, will it be the last time we see the 'LSS badge' on a jet ?

No worrys turk. I just think we'd all do alot better if we simply ignored FF and didnt bother trying to reason with someone who for whatever reason (I think he's satirising the government, but maybe I'm being overly generous to their intellect) doesnt want to be reasoned with.

I agree with you regarding what the politicians will say about the PC-9M. Sinn Fein already came out concerned that we were buying an aircraft that was nato compatible. Shock  horror, but would they prefer Migs?

Hi Guys,

Sorry for not posting this info earlier...

The fuselage badge on L-39C, reg N239BB is very similar to the Irish Air Corps Light Strike Squadron badge , however the badge was changed considerably, incorporating 84 (Russian Squadron no) into the body of the badge, but largely, it is a copy of the Air Corps badge.

I'm still waiting on more pictures of the L-39 and when I get them I'll put them on the website.

well guys i was talking to a guy who had that very patch on his jacket today, said it was from a F-14 squadron he flew with and that the squadron was deactivated. i cant for the life of me remember the squadron name but mabe that well came backe to me when im about to fall asleep

More then likely that tosser is dreaming about the L39ZA's that were cluttering up Aero's plant until recently.
I hate to tell you this ff; but the PC-9M is faster, carries more stores, including possably an AIM-9, and can stay in the air longer.

Wooops, in case anyone jumps down my neck, experiments were done carrying the Aim-9 by PC-9's in Brazil, I think, I do not know what was the conclusion of these tests.
