Queenie
« on: May 12, 2011, 09:39:08 pm »
Okay Lads, let’s start a thread for next week… I take it Queenie will be doing the Northolt- Bal hop in G-RUBE Embraer Legacy? The Winsor’s have been using this of late.

A piece on today's RTÉ One O'Clock news with an DF spokesman outlining the roles being played by the branches of during the upcoming visits from the Heads of State of the UK and US. Airspace restrictions will be in place with PC-9's policing according to the report. Perhaps the Air Corps PC-9 crews will be adopting the Garda "softly, softly" approach of "A now, don't do that, you've no idea how much trouble that'll cost me" dealing with any intruders. Can't see what other realistic course of action is available to them.

If all the formation flying about today is anything to go by, the PC-9's might be escorting herself in

She used G-RUBE a few weeks ago on a visit to Valley to see William! More bags on this trip, so it could be something a bit bigger?

I'd hazzard a guess at a 32 Sqn Bae 146-CC2.

Gonna be weird seeing the union jack poking out of the roof hatch as it taxis in or maybe they will just fly the royal standard. Mmmm....the royal standard alongside the tricolour!! Now there's a thought!!

Weather for Dublin for Tuesday has white cloud and winds from the WSW, which runway will they (most likely) use? where would be a good place for getting a photo without getting arrested?

Sorry ML

I think you're correct about 2 flags from the aircraft, I was referring to which 'UK' banner would be flown. I'm far from being an expert, but I think, similarly to cars with Heads of State, their flag/standard and the national flag of the hosting country are flown.

So probably Royal Standard and Tricolour as they taxi in with Tricolour and Union Flag presented on the ramp. Possibly Air Corps colours too as it's a military base.

I suspect, if they're still around, given the security concerns, that one of the BAe 146's will be made available for the trip.
