Am I wrong in my presumption that this aircraft was airworthy with a valid CofA (ARC) when it left New Zealand, and presumably entitled easily to an Export C of A, to be stuck in a hangar when it arrived and to never fly again?
Would be anice addition to the fly-in circuit

Have another look at the video, it was taken in Baldonnel and surrounding areas. The aircraft is U/S at the moment due to its magnetos being away for repair and certification.

When was the video shot, and when will the mags be done, and the aircraft become operational again

The video was made during the assembly by the Air Corps Techicians at Baldonnel and during one of its flights after assembly.It looked immaculate for it test flight and a well done job by the Air Corps Team despite the fact that they had never seen a Cadet before. The civie with the beard is Stan Smith the engineer who came over from New Zealand and if you look carefully you might notice a shadowey figure lurking as the Cadet is taken out of the hangar.....oops that's me.
In reply to your last two questions the answer is I don't know.

Dont think it would make Abbeyshrule, Mags not back yet, it would have been great to see it with the Iolar.

The assembly of the Cadet and making of the video was in 2007, I asked some of the lads in the video and photos. They do not know the condition of the mags, As far as they know they were sent back to the original owner for repair or overhaul in New Zealand.
