Air Corps Vampire serial 185 in France
« on: August 28, 2011, 11:41:36 am »
People might be interested to see these recent images of former Air Corps Vampire 185.  It is one of a large number of military jets preserved at a museum in Savigny-les-Beaune in the Burgundy region of France.

Thanks for posting those pics SF. This Vampire was presented to the French Air Force Museum and was in prime condition when it left. I understand that at the time the then Squadron CO  wanted to fly it to France but was turned down. It later turned up in the museum shown in the pic.I was sent a picture of it parked in the open and which showed that it was deteriorating fast, then I heard that it was under cover! I now know that under cover means an "umbrella", I thought that it was in a hangar. At least it appears to have got some attention with the non standard application of dayglow and some sort of clean up. Why did they get it in the first place?
