Salthill Air Show, who's going?
« on: June 19, 2003, 08:05:28 pm »
Hi Guys,

Is anybody here going to the Salthill Air Show this year?

I know some of you guys from the IMO.com board will be going but for the guys who use this board only will you be there?

If you are going you should travel early, the traffic will be absolutely mental.  It's crazy when there just the air show but with a football final on in Salthill at the same time..... forget it!

If you can you should stay overnight, either that or leave plenty of time for travel.

I'll be there early and you won't be able to miss me..... I'll be the one wearing the green bomber jacket with an IrishAirPics.com badge on it, I'll have 2 cameras swinging out of my neck and I'll be running around like a kid in a toy shop at Christmas!

I'll be pretty hard to miss so make sure you say hello if you can catch me.

See you all there,

Frank.

I'm still deciding if I will go.
I was thinking about heading over to Salthill early that day in the hope of avoiding any tailbacks.
However, I suppose I would end up in a tailback on the way home  '<img'>

Are those irishaipics.com badges available yet Frank ?
I would be interested in buying one.

Cheers,
Silver.

Hi Silver,

I wouldn't say you'd have much problem getting out of Galway after the air show as long as you didn't mind hanging around Galway / Salthill for an hour or two after the show and giving the traffic some time to die down.

This year show is pretty impressive, there are three dedicated display teams / aircraft displaying:

The Red Arrows

Royal Netherlands Air Force Display PC-7

Luftwaffe Tornado "Blue Lightning"

So you'll have more that just fast jets zipping up and down at high speed, and as well as that you have the GASU EC135 and the new Air Corps S-61N on display, it would be a shame to miss the show, I can't wait for it.

As for the badges, I don't know what the story with them is yet, I haven't been in Galway for a few weeks to visit the shop but I hope to get a look at the prototype sometime next week.

It looked ok on their computer screen but I'll have to see a finished one before deciding if I'll get more made.

Regards,

Frank.   '<img'>

Turkey will be there, along with wifey and 3 hooligans[not counting wifey], Turkey will have an old but realiable Nikon FE-2 strung about his person and wearing a white tee-shirt, with a politically sensitive logo on it. '<img'>
