New Air Corps DVD
« on: August 22, 2012, 11:22:20 pm »
A new DVD "On golden Wings" The story of the Irish Air Corps 1922-2012  by Paul Maguire has just been issued.
Celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Irish Air Corps bringing together for the first time unseen video footage and interviews outlining some of the important events in the history of the Corps.
It includes slideshow of photographs over the decades and a musical tribute to all who have lost their lives on active service with The Irish Air Corps.
All those interviewed gave their services free and proceeds from the sales will go to the Irish Air Corps Museum & Heritage Project and The Cheshire Adventure Motivation Project. Yours truly contributed so here is your golden opportunity to excoriate my input ie pay back time.
The cost is 15 Euro, excellent value. Congratulations to Paul Maguire for his very hard work in putting it together.

Hi Guys,

I'll be helping out the Air Corps with the sale of this book. In the next few days I will set up a page where you can buy the book using a credit card via PayPal.

We just need to figure out postage & packaging costs before selling it. I also hope to have a clip from the DVD tomorrow so that you get an idea of what's in there.

And just so you all know up front, I will NOT be getting anything from the sale of this DVD, apart from a PayPal fee everything will be going to the Air Corps

Regards,

Frank.

I picked this DVD up at Baldonnel on the day of the recent Fouga book launch.  It is a very interesting and well put-together production.  At over four hours in length, it will probably take most people a few sittings to watch.

For the most part the film footage is of good quality and relevant to the aircraft being described, though in a couple of cases some artistic licence has to be taken in the absence of footage (e.g. Spitfire trainers are shown during some of the Seafire discussion).  It looks like the RTE archives and other sources, including private collections, have provided some of the material, which includes colour sequences of the Vampires, Provosts, Puma and Doves.  What comes across particularly is the pride and professionalism of the Air Corps personnel, past and present, in their achievements, as well as the role that Baldonnel has playing in several significant aviation events over the years. The section on film-making in Ireland in the 1960s is of particular note also, with good colour footage of the various WW1 biplane replicas used.

Highly recommended and excellent value. :ireland:

Frank, I would like to purchase a copy (or two). Is the Paypal facility up-and-running yet?
Cheers, Fouga
