- When are the Marchetti's due to be withdrawn from active service ?
(I believe the PC-9's are due to begin training duties this summer).

- Will any Marchetti be retained for the museum ?

Better still, wouldn't it be great if one was retained, given a bright colour scheme, and used as a 'solo display' aircraft at airshows (as the Belgian Air Force do) ?

If I had my way on the subject the Marchettis would be retained and kept as the basic trainers with the PC-9Ms being used as advanced trainers. I for one will be sorry to see them go.

It might be best to sell them off while they can still make a few bob, but I do not think that will happen, I think that they will remain on the inventory as trainers 'till they are well and truly thrashed. '<img'>

What about using them for Air to Air "Dogfights" isnt there a Company in California that does that? If they can do it (Civvie Firm) why cant we! It would be great at Airshows and they could let off smoke as they are hit!

the company is based in fullerton california. its called air combat usa. i know this because i work for them part time when they come to northern cal. we fly out of livermore airport and i fly the chase/spotter plane. i keep the combat box clear and advise when other traffic is near.

Yeah, a Marchetti in the 'tricolours' would be nice to see (if tastefully done!) - along with "Irish Air Corps" on each side of the fuselage.

The indian air force have a sukhoi done in the tricolor and it's very tasty although the sukhoi is past it's sell by date..
