Will this be the Orbat of the Air Corps in 5 years time ?

8 x PC-9M
2 x CASA 235
6 x Medium Lift Helis (Blackhawk ?)
1 x Learjet
1 x Gulfstream
1 x King Air
3 x Cessna Caravan (or similar)


What will perform in the heli training role ?
(Alouettes retained as long as possible for this purpose, or will training be 'outsourced'?)

What will become of the Cessnas ?
(Could they be used as 'pilot screening' aircraft, or used to establish an 'Air Cadet Corps' ?)

Nice fleet Silver but hopefully Mary Harney and her PDs will be off the radar in five years allowing us to have our jets!

ff, don't you mean the dumb scum, led by, and including that mentaly challanged a$$hole from Druncondra will be gone, and there might be a possablity of some of the jets you have been promising for the last while.
I think we all realise now the true value of ff promises ; errr, worthless.

Clan,
Silver's template for our Corps in five years time is excellent. I just feel that hopefully by then we will have some interceptor jets as required. Do I take it it that you feel we shouldn't have jets? There is nothing wrong with that point of view however I myself look forward to the day with have light strike jets again!

FF, I agree we need jets and now. But you keep harpering on about them coming as if you are in the know, but that is all you say "they are coming". Speaking to a PD  TD recently, that particular party is in favour of Jets. So where are they or are you just speculating.

As for Silvers ORBAT, yes it is good but we all hope it could be better with the inclusion of Jets and some more helicopters and some C130's or similar type machine.
The next few years will be busy, with commitments to the UN and the ERF. So the Corp should expand accordingly.

I don't particularly think my suggested Orbat is excellent ! - that's why I have a question mark at the end  '<img'>

If this will be the Orbat, it will be a vast reduction in aircraft compared to recent times - and perhaps somewhat dissapointing to both AC crews and interested AC observers.

N.B. - Three of the aircraft types I have listed will be (more-or-less) dedicated to MATS !!! ??
(i.e almost half of the fleet types !)

FF, there are so few of them in goverment, it should take all of 5 minutes to find out who I am talking about. Besides that lobby them all, do not waste time convincing the ones that are on side already.
Silver it is a good basis, but it needs to be added to, with Jets, helicopters and more lift capability.
But you may be right, it may be all we get and Baldonnell becomes a private airport.

Small but effective I hope with lift capabilties, interception capabilities , training both fixed with and Rotor. And it would take care of Army Co-Operation and UN/ERF roles

Clan that list is real easy to get and it looks like FF wont be getting another term in Office and looks like FG will so maybe they may help us out and that could come around.
