Mystery AirCorps A/C?
« on: December 13, 2003, 03:45:13 pm »
I was just flicking through the new Aircorps book when it dawned on me that in the A/C listings at the back the Lear is listed as being 258 as we all knew it would, yet the first PC-9 will be 260!!! Whats gonna be in between???
Maybe its a printing error! Definitly gonna be doin some snooping on monday!!! Unless of course we are getting a non flying example of the PC-9 for tech training as was done with the Vampires and the Fougas!!!???

Maybe the PC-9 simulator will be 259 ?  '<img'>

Seriously though, I'd reckon it's a printing error.

Seriously, it could have been reserved for the second S-61 that was rumored about for the TT role.

The 2nd S-61 if true is to allow an actual 24hr SAR service to be run, the S-61 is a bit short on cabin space for TTH duties anyway; far too cramped for even a section in CEMO, it'd take 10 minutes to debus.

Basically, so the first PC 9 would be 260, not 259. I've also heard that the the numbers 268 and 269 have already been allocated to the PC 9 fleet for use as attrition numbers, so the next type will start with 270.

257 was reserved for the New Government Jet, be it the Boeing or Airbus.

260 will be the first PC9

259 must be one of FF's Phantoms

Any more Ideas on what 259 will be ?? As Pilatus are supplying the Tech training it's unlikely it will be a tech airframe!! IF it is the wright Flyer has anyone got photo's ??

Is anyone qualified on this new craft.>?? '<img'>

Hi all,
I understand that 259 is just not being taken up as a serial number. There are precedents, for instance 113 was never used even though 112 and 114 were Hurricanes. 139 and 140 were not taken up either. Nos 46 to 52 were for Ansons which were never delivered as were Gladiators 53 to 60. Even though these aircraft were never delivered, the serial numbers were not re allotted
Regards

So the AC 'heads' must prefer for the PC-9's to start from 260 onwards !?
