Allouette's are like Duracell!
« on: June 07, 2004, 09:31:42 pm »
All this talk of the new aircraft got me thinking of something pretty amusing I saw when I was in Paris a few days ago.
I was unfortunately caught up in the Bush extrvaganza when he roled into town the last day,and I noticed that the trusty little aircraft providation observation for the motorcade was an allouette!!
No shiny new EC-135/145 etc.,but the venerable Allouette!
It was a lovely red one with what looked like a white lightning stripe down the side of the fuselage, twas just nice to see that some other service apart from the Air Corps are still reaping the benefits of that absolute tank of an aircraft!
It's gona be sad to see them go.

yes , you see in paris an alouette of the French Civil Security which is used by the paris district police forces for police opération  but the alouette in the FCS and the french military police ( gendarmerie nationale) will be replace by the EC145 ,this new type of helicopter was deployed in normandy for the d-day by these both services

I do not think that the A111's will be leaving us just yet, but their days are clearly numberd, and that is sad, they will be missed.
Ireland, no jets, no future!

One Alouette should be kept airworthy to form a 'Historic Flight' - along with the Chipmunk.

I totally agree with silver about the idea of an historic flight for the air corps, would be great at airshows or public events etc.
Any word on an Air Corps museum??

In the case of Ireland

Historic Flight = 2004 Air Corps

Unless of course we get our begging bowl out and ask The EU for some money to buy things with.........
