Fancy a few airworthy Skyhawks or Aermacchi MB339's for 'scrap value' prices ??!!

New Zealand's PM, Helen Clark, has suggested that she may sell the RNZAF's jets for 'scrap value' !!!

(It has cost over $8 million to store the aircraft since they were "retired" in 2000.)

The Skyhawks were upgraded in 1997 are were not due for retirement until 2007.
The Aermacchi's were purchased (new?) in 1991.

The israelis are retiring them due to high airframe hours, how would that make them a better purchase?
