Well,any news off anyone???

Im a sub, I have a medical next week, so here's hoping that some guys/gals ahead of me will fail or opt out! Did you hear back from the army?

Fair play! You never know, if they're sending you for a medical you must have some chance. No news yet, I'd say I'll be back next year. Best of luck in the medical though. It's meant to be roughly the same as the army which was ok. Hearing and vision would be common failures so any one of the people chosen could fail them.

Anyway, best of luck again!

joe,
well done on getting the subs. fingers cross you`ll be sprung from the bench in extra time!
as for me, i`ve received no word and therefore must presume the worst.

I wasn't sprung from the bench but for those who may be interested in what is checked in the AC medical:

Height/weight
Different measurements for reach etc as in the brochure
Urine test
Blood tests
Blood pressure
X-ray of lungs
ECG (Records electrical activity of the heart, checking for heart problems. Half a dozen electrodes are placed on your chest)
Audio test
Dental exam by dentist
EEG (records brain wave activity checking for neurologial problems such as epilepsy, 24 electrodes are hooked up to your head!)
Eye exam by an ophthalmologist
Finally a check by the chief air doctor.

Hard luck Joey, try it again next year, you'll be luckier I'm sure! The army medical is fairly similar with the exception of the ECG EEG and lung x-ray.
