Hi Frank
Hopefully you can help me on this one. The Max Decals of Irish Air Corps markings are they still being produced?

Regards

Thanks Frank
Much appreciated.
Yes Guinness the F-16.  It's a picture I took at the 75th anniversary of the IAC which took place in Baldonnel (1997).
It's one of a few pics I have on file-no particular reason for posting it.
I remember watching the aircraft in question arriving. He still had a lot of fuel on board so he done a bit of a display above the field to burn some fuel.

Regards

WhiskeySection: Got this in reply from Max Decals this morning:

Quote
Hi Liam,

Firstly, Max Decals is still in business with two new Irish air Corps Decal
sheets to be released shortly. The 1/48 sheet will include the Duaphin (for
the Trumpeter kit), Miles Magister and Cessna 172 plus the Garda EC-135 in 1/32
scale all on the same sheet.
The 1/72 scale sheet will include markings for the PC-9, Casa, Sikorski S-61N
, Garda EC-135 and a rerelease of the Fouga Magister, Alouette III etc. Both
should be available in 8-10 weeks.
I'd be grateful if you could post a note on the IAC forum to the effect that
I'm still in business albeit I had to cut back on the decal projects for the
last 12 months due to other commitments.

Hope this helps. If you want to buy some of his decals, try either Hannants in England http://www.hannants.co.uk/
or http://flightdecs.ca/
Flightdecs are based in Canada, but bizarredly, they were the only place I could get the 1/48 scale stuff from for my Irish Air Corps collection '<img'>

Also, Ithik it would work out cheaper to buy from the Canadian site and there's no minimun order restriction form them. Be patient though as they can get quite busy. If you don't hear fro mthem right away, it just means they're climbing the walls.

All the best,
Liam

Thanks Liam
The reason I asked was i recently completed a 1/48 model of an IAC Fouga. The only problem I had was obtaining the decals for it.  I tried ordering them from Hannants but they told me they weren't being produced anymore.

In the end I painted the roundals on-they look ok but painting numbers is near impossible particularly when they are that small.

Thanks again Liam

Yeah sure Guinness
If you have any of the Grasshoppers display team. Or of the Orions would be interesting.
We had a Dutch Orion in Baldonnel in 93'.  I used to have a pic of it but I don't know where it is.

Thanks

Whiskeysection: Try this link to flightdecs
http://flightdecs.ca/A_max.html
if it doesn't work, go to http://flightdecs.ca/ and click on the "decals" link just below "you need t osend us an e-mail".
This takes you to the manufacturers stock list. Scroll down to MAX and follow the link. They have the sheet you need listed as "in stock". It's MAX 4805. The IAC stuff is roughly in he middle of the sheet.

Thanks Fouga! While recuperating from illness, I got back into the hobby to keep myself sane...this was one my earlier efforts from about 14 months ago. I was "relearning " the skills under the watchful eye of my mate and he has me trained up to a decent level.

The kit is the Fonderie 1/48 Fouga. It's the only one I think in 1/48. It's a mixed-media kit, with metal bits, vac-formed canopies, injected molded pieces and resin cockpit tubs. Went together like a jigsaw with a few bits missing. But not too bad.
Probably mostly my doing as it was the first kit of this mix-ed media type I tried and it was tricky.
Max Decals are good and sharp too.
Liam
ps, anybody who models aircraft should pick up he Brigade Models 1/48 conversion that allows you to make a Spitfire Tr.IX. You'll need the Hasegawa Mk.Ix kit to go with it, but Lord above, it's beautiful when worked up.
