Customs aircraft ?
« on: September 10, 2004, 12:30:55 am »
Now that the Customs service have taken delivery of a patrol boat (which will be manned by a NS officer for 1 year), will it just be a matter of time before the get themselves a patrol aircraft (in the Defender-class perhaps) ?

(The Gardai and Coast Guard have their own aircraft).

No. The role of Customs aircraft is carried out by the Casa. For the Customs to have their own aircraft would reduce the argument for increasing the quantity of CASA aircraft in the Air Corps.

And I wouldnt expect the Naval officer on the Customs Boat to be leaving any time soon. '<img'>
It is no secret that this individual is there to prevent the customs service from having their own agenda, and trying to pull a fast one on the other Drugs Enforcement agencies. As well as training the Crew of course ':<img:'>

Hi sealion,

I'm not saying that Customs SHOULD have their own aircraft, but merely posing the question will they look for one.

I too believe the AC Casa's should continue to perform in this role, and that additional CN235's be purchased.
