Have a read of this article from a Hamburg based online weekly publication -
http://shamrockshire.yi.org/2003/03/20030303.html
They also have some articles about the NS and Army (Just use the 'search' facility on the homepage).

Your details are incorrect there IAS
Armament of the NS vessels is as follows
Eithne(Helicopter Patrol Vessel) 1x57mm,2x20mm,the other 57mm are merely illum rockets, and are fitted to all NS vessels
Niamh/Roisin(Offshore Patrol Vessel) 1x76mm,2x12.7mm,4x7.62mm
Emer,Aoife,Aisling(offshore Patrol Vessel) 1x40mm,2x20mm
Ciara,Orla(Coastal Patrol Vesse)(RN Peacock class)
Its actually a very good article, its only fault in my opinion being that it exposes the flaws in our defence forces which we have tolerated all these years.

Found this site a few nights ago Silver by coincidence.
E-mailed the guy who wrote it to set him straight on his mistakes..ie"no Irish Naval vessel was built in Ireland".
He seemed glad of the feedback and said I wasn't the first to point this out to him.
As such, he is correcting the articles. But you have to agree with the sentiment behind them.

Sealion, I'm afraid you misread my post, I'm only quoting Shamrockshire, not telling him what the weapons fit is, I leave that up to military.ie.

Just a note to let you all know that a corrected version of this article is now at
http://shamrockshire.yi.org/2003/12/20031222.html
Expect revisions to the other two services articles in the coming weeks. also a look at the defence of the island overall and a survey of defence-related industries in the south.

I think you need a few more corrections, e.g. Roisin, 1 x76mm and 2 x 57mm; Deirdre was sold in the late '90s not '80s; to mention but 2. Also ships of the U.S. Coast Guard being based on Eithne is just rumour as far as I know.
