Actually, shortly after I shut down my computer I recalled that the Islander IS actually a twin-engined aircraft.

..............but I did believe that the Islander was a smaller plane.

Ah well, we live and learn   '<img'>

There are many very knowledgeable people who post in good faith on this forum. I have learned and still learning from these postings.I do not think your posting was proper or acceptable. I would have thought that perhaps a "sorry" might have appeared or do you not DO sorry? I would appeal to Frank not to let standards drop or people will drop out.

Hi Guys,

First off can we please stick to what the thread is about, the future of the GASU and not the differences between a Defender & Islander.

And as for the Islander / Defender question, Tony I don't doubt you when you say the aircraft is actually an Islander, but you have to remember that since 254 was delivered it was constantly referred to as a Defender, the first thing I heard anything to the contrary was when you said it above.

Guys, as always, please keep things civil, just because someone doesn't know something about an aircraft or whatever else doesn't give you a reason to have a go at them, this forum is all about information and learning.

I agree with Frank - lets keep to the discussion at hand.

Personally Tony, I don't see a problem with sealion's comments.
He may say that there is a 'lack of knowledge' by some contributors - he is entitled to express his opinion - but that doesn't mean you have to agree with him.

We are all here to discuss the Air Corps and it's future AND we are all learning by doing so.
(I too did not know that the GASU Defender is an Islander!)

 I regret that you do not see a problem with THE comments made through lack of knowledge. Perhaps what I am trying to elucidate is the falling standard in the language used in the message board and in what could be described as in fighting. Those who are hostile to the Defence Forces must find it amusing. In the absence of input from those who might agree I can only log off.

I do not claim to know everything about the AC and it's aircraft - as is the case with many posters here.

However, by posting what I know - and being corrected on occassion - I learn more about the Corps, as do other board users.
