Cadetships 2005 Competition announced

The 2005 Cadet competition is now open until 4th February 2005.
Application forms and governing conditions may be obtained by contacting:

Below are the basic conditions / qualifications required to apply for the Air Corps Cadetships (taken from the PDF brochure available on Military.ie:

CONDITIONS GOVERNING THE AWARD OF CADETSHIPS IN THE DEFENCE FORCES

1. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
A candidate for a cadetship must:

a. At the time of application, be a citizen of Ireland,
b. Satisfy the Minister for Defence as to character,
c. Be not less than 17 years of age and under 28 years of age on 1 October, in the competition year.

2. MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

a. Army (Line), Army Equitation and Air Corps (Pilots) Cadetship candidates must -

(1) Have obtained a recognised degree, i.e. a Third Level Degree awarded up to the end of 2004. With effect from 2005 have successfully completed an Honours Bachelor Degree programme at pass or honours level (level 8 of the National Framework of Qualifications), or:

(2) Possess a minimum of Grade C3 in 3 Higher Level papers and Grade D3 in 3 Ordinary/Higher level papers, in a single sitting of the Leaving Certificate Examination. A candidate’s educational qualifications must include, as a minimum, a
grade D3 in Ordinary/Higher level papers in each of the following subjects:

*Mathematics;
*Irish and/or English;
*A modern European language and/or Latin and/or Greek;

(Candidates need not necessarily have obtained the *specific subjects listed in this subsection, in a single sitting of the Leaving Certificate Examination)
