There is a place outside cork that occasionally keeps second hand flight suits. They make great overalls. The map board pocket sparks find particularly useful...

There will probally be a few genuine IAC ones knocking around for sale, as the service is slowly reverting back to green flight suits, as the dark blue one is being phased out.

Ireland, no jets, no future!

Pilatus,
Spot on.As I understand it aer corp flight crew were standing out like sore thumbs in their navy flight suits while in "the field" with their army colleagues. The company that use to supply their flight suits is called Ballyclare special products ltd based in co Antrim, phone 04893322368.Flight suits are now being supplied by Beaufort in the UK. Out of curiousity, would the wearing of current Air Corps flight suits not be illegal in the same way as wearing an Army or Navy uniform is illegal for civilians?

Hello all
Given that the old Green flying suit is widely available, along with other flight paraphernalia, such as helmets,Gloves, etc, there is nothing to stop anyone dressing up as an Air Corps pilot. The prohibition on wearing PDF gear was rarely enforced(even though, as apprentos,we were warned not to give away any item of our kit, especially combat jackets and trousers) and various items of kit could be seen on farms and building sites countrywide. I remember one quartermaster's son coming in to the Don with his Dad, whilst wearing a combat jacket covered in rock group insignia. The message was passed that Dad ought to be more discrete, given his well-known loss of temper when other mortals needed kit replaced.Sonny was rapidly deprived of said jacket, much to the delight of the Mess.
Try the guy with the surplus shop in the Curragh.Name of Curtiss,he supplies the locals with kit and even maufactures the stuff on site.
regards
Stovepipe

The authorities might be lax with guys on building sites wearing DPMs, but they come down hard on any retailer they suspect of selling issued kit. I've twice had to provide proof that kit sold by me was not PDF issue.

I doubt very much that Curtis would risk his business & reputation by stocking such kit, especially given his location.
D'oh!
