rockets id imagine. Is it the first time the Air Corps have laid out one of their Aircraft in such a way? the only time i have ever seen a picture like that is when the USAF did out their A-10's and B-52's etc in that fashion. Never seen an Air Corps Aircraft like that. It looks mean!!

The rockets are made by FN, are 70mm / 2.75inch's in diameter and are referred to as a "FFAR" - Folding Fin Aircraft (or Aerial) Rocket.

They are unguided and basically fly in a straight line after being fired out of the pod.

Do the rockets fire in a salvo per pod or can they be fired singly?

Hi all
Those rockets can be fired either singly(one per pod per trigger pull) or ripple-fired (a stream of rockets per trigger pull) or salvoed (the lot are fired off at once...very inaccurate because their multiple slipstreams throw off each other's aim). They could be the same kind used on American aircraft such as the Apache and Cobra. These rockets are an improvement on the old SNEB/MATRA 68mm rounds because they have a higher velocity are are more accurate....As for the photograph of the entire armament fit, such kind have been taken for every armed aircraft in the Corps, at one time or another.

Hi there
Not like that, but it was done for the Fougas and Marchettis. You'd have to try Photo Section. They threw out a lot of stuff.I have a few pics that I retrieved from a skip one time, but none like the PC-9 shot.

I think I remember a pic from the early 1970s of -- of all things -- a Reims with a potential weapon load displayed out front. Not sure if it was an IAC or Cessna company photo but I have a newspaper clipping somewhere. Not sure what, if anything, they carried in IAC service.

Hi there
The Cessnas could carry a pod containing 37mm rockets under each wing. They were eventually stripped of firing circuits and the pods/rockets scrapped. In theory, they could carry gunpods or small bombs, but such were never fitted in the Don.
