Don't really know if there is anything planned in exchange. 217 was originally supplied to the Austrian Air Force in Sept.1962 and was with 2 Wing at Graz as 4D-YL. I believe it was also at some time, part of the Austrian aerobatic team. (additions and corrections welcome )

Hi all
I once had a flight in "217", with a Lt. Martin at the controls. Air test to check landing gear door operation.Lots of fun.Nice to see it going to a good home, no matter what colours it might live under.
regards

I think they will repaint it in Austrian colors, as it was originally an Austrian Fouga and they don't have any left in their museums.

I think you have a point there Fouga23.

Why should the Austrians keep it in IAC colours as the plane once was Austrian anyway?

I can understand why the Austrians will repaint 217 in their colours - they did originally operate it after all.

..........still wondering what we get in exchange '<img'>

I picked up this months Airliners, and it seems that the Austrian Airforce are picking up at least one airframe of every aircraft they have flown in the last 50 years for the 50 year celebrations that are to take place later this year.

It also stated in the article that as yet it was not determied where the Fouga Magister was to come from, but we all know this now.

Hmmm, wonder whether they'll make it airworthy.

Probably too much of a stretch though

Any chance of some pics of it being loaded ?

Better still, perhaps somebody could tell RTE and get some footage on the News or Nationwide ?
