Scale Aircraft Modelling April 2005

The April 2005 issue of Scale Aircraft Modelling magazine has a very good and well-illustrated article on the Air Corps, by Kevin Byrne. It is currently in stock in Eason's in Dublin but I would expect it to sell quickly.
The article depicts the EC135 and AB139 helicopters both wearing a dark green overall colour scheme, with serial in white. The EC135s are apparently to be serialled 270 and 271, with the AB139s to be 272 to 277. Serials 268 and 269 are said to be reserved for PC-9Ms.

Hi SF,
Thanks for the head's up on the magazine.
It's curious what you said about the serials, the serials allocated for the AB139 heli's covers 6 helicopters, has there been any word on the two options being exercised?
Regards,
Frank.

On a re-read it does say that serials 276 and 277 are reserved for AB139s - presumably to allow all six to be in a consecutive sequence if these options are exercised.

Interesting too about the PC-9 'reserved numbers' ?
Additions, or attrition replacements ?

I think it was mentioned here that the additional PC-9 numbers were for attrition replacements.
One would hope that that extra 139's will be bought after the intial order, as a given

I had it confirmed that the order for the AB139s was for 4 firm and 2 options but the options have not been exercised yet (status as of one month ago).

Let's hope that there is no need for attrition replacements.

EC-135. Boy I love that chopper. Currently building the Revell 1/32 kit. There's just something mean and fast looking about those.
