AC 'fleet' poster ?
« on: May 20, 2005, 09:09:12 pm »
I recall seeing an aircraft fleet poster for Malta's Armed Forces a few months ago and it got me thinking how a similar poster would be a great PR tool for the AC.

They could show a photo (or colour print) of each aircraft type in service along with ........

- number of each type in use
- what each type are used for
- date entered service
etc etc etc

I'm sure such a poster would be easy to produce, and perhaps could even be produced 'in house' by the AC photographic section ??

Silver , I do not belive that everything is in place to produce such a poster in-house, but there are certainly sufficent facilities and skilled people to get 'Art' ready for printers.
It's a really cool idea, by the way, but while I know nothing of Malta's air assets, it would not suprise me if they were greater then ours.  '<img'>

They had one in 2000(I bought one at the air spectacular), but perhaps its better to wait until after the end of the transition the Corps is going through, what with the imminent retirement of the dauphins, gazelles and the arrival of the new helis?

Yeh, the 2000 one's a bit crap really. Just after the Fougas and pre PC-9 and Lear. A bit bare but a good layout all the same with as was said above all the aircraft info and service details. Theres still a few of them up on walls out here.

Yeah, I too reckon that when the new helis enter service it would be a good time for a fleet poster.

Here is an image of the Malta Armed Forces Air Squadron poster [removed due to pop-up. Look up Yahoo for website]

The Maltese site is quite nice .
Only a pity there are no pics on their Air Arm on the site.
Only some cool pics of an Itallian HH-3F.

Well Speaking as someone who knows from experience, The Posters would take time, and a hell of a lot of Effort. And I'm not sure of how much of a market there would be! In case you haven't noticed, apart from the members of this Board there is not a lot of interest in the Air Corps except for the Aviation Enthusiast?

Good point Bailer.

But if the (little!) Maltese air arm can produce them.......

Hi Guys,

There is a poster of current Air Corps aircraft out there, I can't remember exactly what aircraft are on it but I'm sure the PC-9 is on it.

I'm sure there is a chance it will be available at Salthill and posibly Bray this year.

The DF usually have a good turnout at Salthill Air Show and there is all sorts of promotional material material available so you never know what will show up.

Regards,

Frank.

There is a poster out in black and white. I got it 2 years ago at the National Careers Day in the RDS. Just a thrown together one really, not a professional job. I suppose it wouldn't be a bad thing to do. Not going to be a huge market for them though

Salthill & Bray would be a nice market to sell them though

Why don't you expend a few braincells and put it together yourself? I'm sure there are enough colour profiles of the fleet out there to cut and paste a poster together. It's not going to threaten sales of the Bible, but it would probably be a steady, slow seller all the same.

BTW guys, speaking of posters.....

Has there ever been a poster of all the AC squadron patches ?
Now that would be nice !

Perhaps the new aviation mag (don't recall name?) could do one as a centre page pull-out '<img'> .............it would boost their sale that month by at least one   ':<img:'>
