Hawker Hind and Hector
« on: August 04, 2005, 06:44:05 pm »
Hi,

Does anyone have details of the Hawker Hind and Hawker Hectors that were operated by the IAC during the late 30's early 40's?

I have a list of serial numbers and some details of their fates but little else.

Any details would be appreciated.

Alex

Hi Fouga,

Thanks.

My main interest is in pre-WWII RAF biplanes, hence my interest in the IAC as they used a number of these aircraft, including the Gladiator, Hector and Hind.

I actually built a model of an IAC Hurricane IIc a couple of years ago and it lokks rather resplendent in its Grey/Green camo with the IAC Celtic Boss's on the wings and fuselage.

Welcome to the board acrawford!

Would it be possible for you to post a pic of your IAC Hurricane model ?

Regards,

Silver.

Hi Tony,

I know where I went wrong. I have both 1/72 and 1/48 scale set of Irish Air Corps markings by Max Decals.

It appears I used the 1/48 set for the colour guide, which is for a Mk IIc and the decals for the 1/72 set, which is a MkI.

Ah well not to worry. I don't have the model anymore. I usually give them to the kids to play with.

Hi Silver,

Yeah I give them to the kids. I'm not a serious modeller I just build for fun. I do carry out some conversions and add details etc, but it's purely for relaxation.

I do the occasional article and kit review for Mushroom Model Magazine and I keep those models but the rest go to the kids.

Fouga,

I'm from Fife in Scotland.

Regards,

Alex

Yes, Leuchars is in the County of Fife and I stay about 30-40 minutes drive away at Glenrothes.
