Did you hear the F16 pilots at the end saying they were going to safe! Jeez, it just goes to show how close those passengers became to meeting their maker! If they'd been Russian Migs and the airliner had been Korean!
Or the Iranian Airbus in the Gulf shot down by the US Navy.
Fair play to the Dutch though, an airliner cruising at 31,000 feet would pass over Holland in about 2 minutes!

All a bit mad ... what were they going to do anyway .. shoot it down over densely populated Holland and kill another couple of hundred folks all on the basis of what might or might not be a threat ...

I wouldn't think so, unless the aircraft showed hostile intent. Better to be prepared though
