Green, White and Orange smoke trailing from the PC-9's as they do their displays would be a great sight to behold !  '<img'>

Remember folks, there's a difference between the public team name and the callsign. In 1997, I answered to the callsign Fox 2, but the team name was "Silver Swallows".
I'd like the team name to continue. Why?
When the Silver Swallows 1997 formed up, it was a completely new group of pilots from those who formed the team in previous seasons. Notwithstanding this, the new team members sought to achieve or excel the standards attained by previous team members.
I believe that the same situation exists with the present incumbents.
They don't want to be judged against us, because they're not us.
They're flying a different machine, they're operating in a different environment. They're under much closer scrutiny, by the way.
Let the Silver Swallows name continue, but look at the team as a new entity, because they are. I just hope they're given the freedom to demonstrate the team excellence that exists within the Air Corps.
If they keep the Fox 1-2-3-4 callsigns, all the better!

hi folks
Another consideration: the original "swallows" started by using existing budgets and equipment, long before they had official sanction to form a team; i.e; they had the nod to practise the routines and carry out extra flights, above the normal requirement.Normal service took priority and that will probably stay the same, just that there's more aircraft to go around and allow greater flexibility. It wasn't til much later that they started in a "formal" fashion, with jazzed-up flying suits and all that. It's still a matter of whether the bosses can persuade the Finance people that a discretionary use of public funds on an aerobatic team is justified.Besides, smoke pods and their associated equipment are very expensive and would require some mods to the carrying aircraft.

Hi Guys,

As far as I know the PC-9's are already wired up for smoke pods, I remember looking at a diagram on the wall of the FTS showing the layout of the Air Corps PC-9M's cockpit and there was a switch for the smoke pods.

The pods themselves are the expensive part but at least the aircraft won't have to be laid up while modifications are carried out.

BTW, welcome to the board Fox 2.

Regards,

Frank.

Don't even know FF (No offence FF). Not into playing identity games. Flying the lesser spotted Seattle bird of shamrock variety.

Hi Fox 2
Are you fending off the evil day when you'll have to enter the 21st Century and try on an Airbus? That is, if you're not on the course already, or even have it completed and are waiting for a captain's slot to become vacant?
Have fun while it lasts!
