somebody over on IMO said that it brought over some swedish "special soldiers" so they could train with our "special soldiers".  It was also said that he two groups were seen training in the water around Haulbowline.

It's also been said that the Air Corps had not got suitable equipment to offload some of the palletised cargo - any truth in that?  If so, it compromises the idea of being able to provide what would be regarded as a fairly standard service to users of probably the most ubiquitous military transport aircraft in the western world.

Sure all that would be needed is an elevator-type forklift - as used on any building site.....surely the AC has one ??

......then again maybe not !

imagine if ireland got hercs i doubt they would fit in any hangar we have!?well from the looks of that herc in the econd pic there!it looks like the tail would be to tall!?

Hi all
With regard to the carriage of cargo, the Casas can have their mission equipment suite stripped out in modules in a few hours and the cabin used for cargo.The floor is not set up to carry the standard LD-3 cargo box, but can carry ordinary pallets or can be rigged for para ops.

Pilatus i think the herc would have no problem getting into a hanger @ Bal i think its the angle at which the picture was taken mate.

your probably right but i remember seeing a pic of the casa being towed out of the hanger and it looked like there wasnt much room between the top of the tail and the hanger?im not sure how much higher the hercs tail is but i would guess higher than the casas!?maybe im wrong but thats just at first glance! '>

The Herc isnt that high at all to be honest we had one at Salthill a few years ago and its not that tall. rather stumpy to be honesy unless of course its a stretched model

Looks like the return flight will be on Saturday 17/9, but using Dublin Airport.

Hi there
Think of the Casa as being no bigger than an ATR-42.The Hercules is considerably bigger and would have a problem in getting into the older hangars.Remember, the Casa has to be "dipped" to get it into the older hangars.
