Comments: This is the preserved control tower at the original Sharjah airport, Al Mahatta, in downtown Sharjah, about a 30 minute drive from the modern SHJ airport. Al Mahatta was setup by the British in the 1930s as a tech stop for Imperial Airways. The Royal Air Force used Al Mahatta extensively in World War Two. Al Mahatta is now closed and almost comsumed by the city but the museum is well worth a visit.
