Large Picture Comments: This unusual early jet used a piston engine to drive a compressor, which forced compressed air into a combustion chamber where it was mixed with fuel and ignited. The N.1 first flew on 27 August 1940. On display at the Museo Storico dell' Aeronautica Militare.
