Comments:
A rare & unusual Auster arrived at Weston June 15th. G-AKWS, a 1944 built Auster 5A-160, flew in from Shobdon Airfield, Herefordshire. Unlike most Austers this one is fitted with a Lycoming O-320 160HP engine with a Sensenich M74DM metal prop. It's painted in two tone camo scheme & carries it's former military serial RT610. There are quite a few Austers in the UK painted in their former RAF or Army Air Corps colours but I dont remember seeing any in Ireland. Pearse Cahill's Auster J/1 Autocrat carried false RAF colours for a film back in the late 1960's.
